Engine & Prop

Engine

rotax912ulsThe Sting and Sirius both use the ubiquitous Rotax 912ULS 100hp engine OR the latest Rotax 912iS fuel injected engine made by Bombardier in Austria. This engine has a displacement of 1200cc and runs through a 2.17:1 gearbox allowing larger more efficient propellers to be used. The cylinder heads are water-cooled making the engine less susceptible to sudden changes in temperature.

powermax_propPropeller

The standard propeller for the UK Sting is the Kiev ground adjustable prop with the Powermax in-flight adjustable constant speed propeller available as an option.

Exhaust system

There is a custom designed stainless steel silencer supplied with the kit which provides for whisper quiet operation so essential for today’s noise sensitive airfields.
